  • A MISSION FOR CLIMATE, ENERGY & TRANSPORTATION

    Keep Cool inspires kids to become climate action superheroes and change their families’ energy and transportation habits!

     

    6 weekly modules about an hour each in the classroom combined with at-home superhero missions cover a range of climate action topics, including:

    The Climate Conundrum (intro)

    Operation Darkroom (energy)

    Operation Shower Power (energy & heat)

    Operation Keep Car Cool (green driving)

    Operation Go Car Free (active transportation)

    Keep Cool (celebration!)

    Real-world Impact

    Kids are leading measurable change in their families, with over 50% of families reporting driving and idling less, and over 70% saving energy at home.

    Zero Heroes inspires zero waste superheroes to explore our garbage predicament and change their families’ waste habits!

     

    6 one hour weekly modules in the classroom combined with at-home superhero missions cover a range of waste reduction topics, including:

    Operation Garbage Watch (intro)

    Operation Love Food, Hate Waste (food waste)

    Operation Food Scraps (organics recycling)

    Operation Waste-Free Lunch

    Operation Buy Smart (sustainable consumption)

    Operation Green Cycle (design thinking)

    Real-world Impact

    Kids are leading measurable change in their families, with 63% of families wasting less food, 69% of kids’ lunches creating less garbage and 71% of families recycling more food scraps!

    Indigenous Perspectives on Waste

    Each week, our young Cree superhero highlights Indigenous-led environmental projects around the world, showing how Indigenous cultural practices and wisdom hold solutions for our world’s waste issues. Created in consultation and collaboration with Indigenous artists, elders and culture keepers. Learn more about the collaboration.

    H2Whoa inspires kids to become water superheroes and help their families conserve and protect our precious water resources!

     

    Four weekly modules in the classroom combined with at-home superhero missions cover a range of water topics, including:

    Real-world Impact

    Piloting of the program in Vancouver showed kids are leading measurable change in their families, with 85% of families turning off taps more, 85% of families taking shorter showers and 55% of families pledging to let the rain water their lawn!

    Indigenous Perspectives on Water

  • A MISSION FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

    The Emergency Preparedness Program trains kids as emergency preparedness superheroes to make sure families are ready when disaster strikes!

     

    4 one-hour weekly modules in the classroom combined with at-home superhero missions cover a range of emergency preparedness topics, including:

    • Module 1 – Know the risks (also available as a live show in Metro Vancouver)
      An A-Z overview of different disasters
      . Introduces ways we can be better prepared and teaches the Superhero Calming Breath!
    • Module 2 – Make a plan
      Planning 101: Why plan?
       How making plans before an emergency event can help you stay calm. Helps kids lead their families in planning for emergencies.
    • Module 3 – Get a kit
      Helps kids make a ‘grab-and-go’ bag to make sure they stay safe during the first 72hrs of an emergency.
    • Module 4 – We’re In This Together
      Emergencies can bring out the best in communities. We help kids celebrate how they’ve helped their families be better prepared!

    Real-world Impact

    Kids are leading measurable change in their families, with 42% of families making a plan and 36% starting to make a kit. Furthermore, 100% of teachers said it increased their knowledge and confidence to teach emergency preparedness concepts!
